Who needs the “bright lights” of the city?
We find ourselves mesmerized by the owl and his nighttime flight.
Colour and texture fill the painting!
The hills that cut across the background are alight with bold colours.
The “evergreens” add depth as they are seen below,
and their reds along with the golden forest floor add to the vibrancy of the nighttime scene.
Horizontal lines of deep blues within the sky and water alternate with the reds, framing the scene.
The birch and pine trees cut through the horizontal sections in both their vertical direction and their turquoise tones.
The barred owl seems illuminated as its natural colours pop against the background.
It’s on the right side of the canvas but looking to fly left across the scene,
inviting the viewer to join the owl’s flight path through the forest. -

$3,600.00“Through the Rapids” explores our struggles and perseverance through turbulence.
This painting was born from the connection I feel to nature as I'm paddling our waterways. I also had in mind our son's expressive exclamation as he faced a huge swell maneuvering through the Dumoine river rapids- "Oh, Boy!". He met it with hopeful determination. “Through the Rapids” explores our struggles and perseverance through turbulence.The kayak, the one human-made object within the scene, represents us.
The stark red of the kayak sharply contrasts its surroundings, highlighting our journey.Different styles and techniques combine to convey motion, struggle, and feeling within the scene.
The more stylized dabs and lines of the inner waves and kayak are contrasted and enveloped by the more realistic, textured outer waves.The paddle breaks through the wild water. Both its positioning and its colour link it to the seagull, as the grey gull is part of the dynamic scene while being able to soar above the turbulence.
The large bordering waves hide the identity of who might be holding the paddle. It can be any one of us.

$4,200.00Mother is seen in the relationship between the doe and the fawn, between Mother Nature and the deer, the forest, the water, the air … and we human beings.
Balance and harmony are key in these relationships and within the elements of the painting itself.
Sky, land and water are balanced in their composition and colour.Horizontal lines of blues in sky and water border the warm colours of the land. The birch trees cut through the horizontal sections in both their vertical direction and their bold blacks and whites, holding the overall composition together in its framework.
The mother deer is protective in her stance, standing guard over her fawn as it safely nourishes itself from the lake.
The birch trees stand as sentries, providing the deer with their protective cover. They stand straight and tall, holding the land and reaching into the sky, being nourished by and benefiting our environment and, in turn, us.“Mother” invites the viewer into the scene. As the doe protectively holds our gaze, the viewer is drawn into the richly textured forest. What will our relationship be with our wilderness environment?

$3,600.00“Take Off” was born out of a canoe expedition with friends down the Lièvre river.
As were enjoying the river’s tranquil flow , cutting through the bordering hills and forests,
we suddenly came upon a flock of Canadian Geese.
The geese were also enjoying the day’s calmness of the Lièvre. We, however, were unwanted intruders on their peacefulness.
With seemingly much effort and commotion, the geese took off from the river.
The cycling of their legs and webbed feet,
the sparkling splashes of water, the flapping of huge wings and
the symmetry of motion within the flock as they followed their leader
were all something to behold!
A memory was created, a sketch was born, and a brush took to canvas…
